Scope and Contents
This collection consists of newspaper clippings of articles and photographs concerning Rice University and its campus, faculty, students, alumni, and visitors from its opening in 1912 to the present. The collection is organized in categories including the following: students and student activities; graduation ceremonies; faculty; presidents; architecture and buildings; athletics, the stadium, and teams; planning, dedication, and anniversaries; and historic events with a Rice connection.

Biographical / Historical
There has been newspaper coverage of Rice University since its opening in 1912, and it has been continuous to the present time. The publications represented are nearly all Houston-based. The earlier clippings are from newspapers that no longer exist. Coverage in some of the early articles is especially comprehensive, for instance including full texts of addresses.
