04. Architecture

This collection includes pattern boards (design molds) and metal castings of architectural details such as stair rails, fencing, and other metalwork ornaments manufactured by Weber Iron & Wire Company from the 1930's to the 1990's. Some were designed by architects John F. Staub and Birdsall P. Briscoe. The collection also includes photographs, architectural drawings, reference books, and tools used in the manufacturing process, along with invoices from the company from 1933 to 1987.

The collection consists of tape recorded interviews with nine people who were closely familiar with the architectural work of William Ward Watkin. The recordings are in digital mp3 format and on original microcassettes, including the recording equipment with which they were made. No transcripts currently exist for this material. The Harris Masterson III papers concentrate mainly on Masterson's business and philanthropic interests. Dates range from 1892- 1980, bulk 1950-1979, and formats include correspondence, photographs, business and legal documents. Personal and family data are also chronicled. Highlights include Masterson's collecting interest in Texana and construction information on the Masterson house, Rienzi.

The collection consists of a photo album containing 45 black and white photos of the interior and exterior of the Niels Esperson Building in Houston, Texas, ca. 1927.

These papers consist of the academic and professional papers of Lars Lerup the former Dean of the Rice School of Architecture, 1993-2009.

Correspondence, minutes, and memoranda of the Rice University Space Assignment Committee, arranged chronologically.
