Abstract

This collection is part of a wider compilation of Roy M. Huffington’s personal and professional papers. These materials encompass his service in the U.S. Navy during World War II. The materials reflect his continued interest in both the Navy and the history of the conflict. This collection consists of service records, personal correspondence, WWII aerial intelligence photographs, records from various veterans’ organizations, and personal research.

Abstract This material primarily consists of correspondence to and from Addison McElroy during the Second World War and immediately thereafter. Included are letters from his friends at Rice, giving insight into wartime life at the Institute. There is also an extensive number of letters from McElroy to his mother and her responses thereto. Abstract

This collection contains ten boxes of material related to the history and operation of Ellington Field, also known as Ellington Air Force Base, near Houston, Texas. The majority of the records date from 1917-2007, and include historical research materials, photographs, books, microfilm, postcards, and memorabilia. The foundation of the collection was material assembled by historian Kathryn Black Morrow for the publication of a history of Ellington Field.

Business and personal records of J. Russell Wait, Director of the Port of Houston from 1930-1947, offering a comprehensive history of the Port of Houston's construction, facilities, finances, clients and operations from 1931-1962. During this time, the Port of Houston grew from the nation's twelfth largest port to its third largest. Materials also relate to the Brazos River Harbor Navigation District, Houston Ship Channel maps, and scrapbooks on WWII and Japan.

Abstract

This collection includes a scrapbook created by Helen Wong Hom during her time in San Antonio during World War II, associated with the FAB-100 officers and friends. Helen Wong Hom appears to have been associated with the first group of the U.S. Foreign Affairs Bureau's group of 100 Chinese officers who later became known as the FAB-100. Many of these officers served as interpreters, translators, and trained others in aviation and radio mechanics.

Abstract The Paul B. Hendrickson World War I collection contains correspondence written by Hendrickson to his family back home during his time in service. The letters were to his mother and to the girl next door, Cecil Frances Rife, whom he later married.
