Frank E. Dudley poetry and artifacts
The collection consists of approximately 235 poems, and correspondence relating to the poetry of Frank Elijah Dudley, of Beaumont, California. Also included in the collection are apparently American Indian artifacts including arrowheads, "swastika" gourd, animal sculptures and a small amount of California gold dust.
John Robert Anderson manuscript of "The Old Adam"
This collection contains a xerox copy of the typescript of "The Old Adam," an unpublished novel called with a West Texas setting written by John Anderson. Anderson, a 1976 graduate of Rice University, wrote the novel while pursuing a Ph.D. at Yale University. At the time this typescript was accessioned (1983), Anderson was a professor at Pennsylvania University; the novel was unpublished.
Robert L. Patten literary papers
These Papers represent a portion of the literary career of Dr. Robert L. Patten of Rice University. His writings reflect his interests in Victorian graphic art, history of 19th century publishing, and renowned author Charles Dickens along with renowned illustrator George Cruikshank. Formats include drafts, notes and correspondence related to Dr. Patten's books, articles, lectures and reviews.
Grace Spaulding John papers
These papers consist of proofs, dummies, and printed copies of published and unpublished works written by or illustrated by Grace Spaulding John. Also included are film/film prints of illustrations from these works, sketchbooks, as well as other artwork. Additional items in the collection include biographical information on John, newspaper and magazine articles, and family photographs, audiotapes and correspondence.

Edward Doughtie manuscripts of English Renaissance songs
This collection contains Edward Doughtie’s compilation of manuscripts of English Renaissance songs, including: typescript copies of Lyrics from English Airs and a typescript of Liber Lilliati (an Elizabethan verse and song).

Grover Smith collection of Aldous Huxley correspondence
The Grover Smith papers are largely comprised of photocopies of letters between literary critic and author Aldous Huxley and numerous correspondents -- literary, scientific, friends, and family -- mainly from Great Britain and the U.S., dating from 1908-1985, bulk years 1930s-1950s. Some original correspondence between Julian Huxley and Smith exists, which relates to Smith's publication of the Huxley letters as Letters of Aldous Huxley, Harper & Row, 1970.
"Reflections on Santayana's Esthetics" manuscript
This collection consists of a handwritten manuscript (about 220 pages) by Edmund Clark Sanford. The manuscript contains Sanford’s thoughts on George Santayana’s book "The Sense of Beauty," as well as some of Sanford’s thoughts on aesthetics in general.
