Sarah Lane Literary Society records

Abstract

The Sarah Lane Literary Society (SLLS), founded in 1947, was named after Sarah Lane, a 1919 graduate who served as the dean of women, 1931-1950. It disbanded in 1965, but its alumnae stayed active through the 2000s. This record contains correspondence, ledgers, information about events, alumnae directories, alumnae newsletters, and scrapbooks.

Rice Hotel memorabilia collection

Abstract This collection consists of Rice Hotel (Houston, Tex.) memorabilia and includes menus, drink lists, advertising material, and stationery. Included are a 1913 dinner plate, china and silverplate. In 1886 William Marsh Rice bought the old Capitol Hotel, built in 1882, for unpaid taxes. Rice University obtained the hotel as a bequest from its owner and renamed it the Rice Hotel. Jesse H.
