The collection consists of reports, photographs, and films related to the NASA Suprathermal Ion Detector Experiment (SID), part of the Apollo Lunar Surface Experiment Package (ALSEP). This experiment, involving equipment developed by Freeman, was part of the work of Apollo missions 12, 14, and 15.

This collection contains a t-shirt, two photographs, and a uniform patch all carried into space aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery, STS-51 from September 12-22, 1993. James (Jim) Newman earned his Masters and PhD from Rice and afterwards went to work at NASA, where he flew several space missions.

Reginald J. Dufour astronomical photographic glass plates

Abstract

This collection contains 242 astronomical photographic glass plates collected by Rice University's Dr. Reggie Dufour. The majority were taken at the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory in the Coquimbo Region of northern Chile. A small number of the plates were taken at the Kitt Peak National Observatory near Tucson Arizona.
