Abstract

This collection contains two typed letters from Lester Maddox, then-owner of The Pickrick, to Mr. J. Miller thanking him for his support in matters not clearly stated but related to civil rights. Both letters were written in 1964.

The papers of Dickson Fagan (1903-1977), Austin, Texas attorney active in the Democratic Party, include correspondence with both state and national political figures as well as Fagan's personal and business subject files clippings, published materials and notes, dating from 1950-1978.

The papers of Frankie Carter Randolph (1894-1972), longtime leader of Texas liberal Democrats, include correspondence, documents, newsclippings, photographs, oral history interviews and other materials that chronicle her political activism in Texas during the 1950s and 1960s. Issues include the Poll Tax, labor law, African Americans, and social programs.

Donated by active Republicans Dr. and Mrs. Edward C.M. Chen, these club records show the activities of the Braes Republican Women's Club in Houston, such as meeting minutes and detailed scrapbooks featuring photographs of members and various events. The period of time covered by this material includes Dr. Chen’s term of service as Harris County Republican Party Chair. Scope and Contents

The collection includes Diana P. Hobby's writing and research notes, from the early 1950s to 2014, focused on her study of William Butler Yeats. The bulk of the collection consists of family photographs and slides from the Hobby family's worldwide travels and their frequent visits to Ireland, and to Diana Hobby's family farm in North Carolina, Forest Home, along with their equestiran endeavors and competitions, and their lives and friends in Houston, TX.
