John MacPhee, "Smile! You're on Camera" risograph book
Scope and Contents
11x17" softcover booklet / zine format. Booklyn dealer description: "This publication lands somewhere between a zine, an artist book, a giant flipbook, and an image collection. 27 different graphic icons representing cameras and surveillance were collected and piled on top of each other—each page in the book is followed by a page with an additional camera icon added to it, the final page so covered that it becomes difficult to even see what you are looking at.
While the book is about how excessive surveillance has become in society, the production itself became an excessive process performance, with pages stacking up in massive piles as each page had to continually be fed through the risograph each time an image was added. The final page went through the machine 26 different times. The book captures this extreme use of the printing equipment, as the later pages are bent, smeared, and otherwise slightly damaged by having to be fed through the machine so many times."
