Wooden, "gear" shaped award in a wood slide-top box honoring Rice University's semicentennial in 1962. The item is accompanied by a card that states "Award given by the Department of Architecture in connection with the Semi-Centennial Celebration, Rice University." There is a small metal plaque centered on each face of the object. One side states: "The Peoples Architects" and the other: "Rice University 1912-1962". The faces of the gear teeth are engraved with names, as follows: Reid (in gold), Belluschi, De Mars, Ford, Gruen, Goodman, Pei, and Shaffer, all notable American architects of the mid 20th century. There is no information regarding the original owner or donor. Item is located in its original slide-top wooden box.
