General
Given in the Rice semi-centennial year of 1962, this medal of honor was given to Brand Blanchard for distinction in Philosophy. The medal is large, round and gold-colored and includes its original blue/silver ribbon. In relief on the front is the Rice shield with text around the perimeter "Rice University Semicentennial Medal of Honor." In relief on the back is an image of Lovett Hall and text "Awarded to" and "For Distinction In" with fields below for the engraved name of the recipient and discipline. Around the perimeter is the text "William Marsh Rice University 1912-1962." There is no information regarding donor. Item is located in its original blue presentation box with the Rice Academic Seal and the recipient's name embossed.
