General
Silver (stainless steel?) compact, elongated rectangular shape, with blue enameled front and back. Front has two silver-outlined vertical gray stripes, and gray "Rice '35" in center. Previous database description states "Compact representing those given to all the dates attending the annual Rice Band Banquet held at the San Jacinto Inn, 1935, given by Mrs. W. H. Gibson (Helen Kelly Gibson)." The 1935 Campanile indeed lists William Hunter Gibson, member of the band, as part of the class of 1935. No mention is found of Helen Kelly. This item is located in a gray velvet pouch within a box identified as "4 Rice compacts 1935, 1936, n.d."
