General

2 watch fobs, each with a round bronze medallion bearing the relief profile of, probably, William Marsh Rice and the word "Rice". Underneath the profile, the intials "JCT" are engraved. One of the fobs additionally has a bronze owl medallian. These items are examples of the first "R" watch fob designed by John Clark Tidden, who was an instructor in drawing and painting and, later, architectural drawing. His time at Rice began in 1917, was interrupted by World War I, and then he returned for a period of time in the early 1920's. There is no information regarding the original owner or the donor of these items. Items are found in an identified box, including the word "Tidden".
