Brass Van Cort Instruments kaleidoscope. "Rice University" is engraved on the barrel, and the kaledoscope design includes the Rice shield as part of its shifting pattern. The original wooden stand/base is included with the kaleidoscope. There is no indication of a date, or the event for which this item was created, but Van Cort Instruments only manufactured kaleidoscopes from 1983 to about 2000. There is also no information regarding the original owner or the donor. The item is located within an envelope identified with "Van Cort Instruments Kaleidoscope and wood base."
