Scope and Contents
A 13 page letter to Texas Governor Dolph Briscoe concerning the history of the Heiskell family and the service and land grants of Charles M. Heiskell. Mr. Heiskell’s letter is followed by two letters to Mr. Heiskell from the Daughters of the Republic of Texas in charge of the Alamo and researching its history. Correspondence relates to the proper spelling of Heiskell's great-great uncle (and Alamo defender) Charles M. Heiskell’s name in the historical record at the Alamo.
This material is a copy of the originals which were kept by the donor, Roy H. Heiskell.
