Series IV : Leases, Indentures, 1903

 File — Box: 18, Folder: 23

Scope and Contents note

From the Series:

Leases of warehouse spaces along railroad lines in Texas, dating from 1893-1934. Many of these documents were signed by B. B. Rice (nephew of Wm. M. Rice), who served as Secretary & Treasurer, and as General Manager for Merchants & Planters Oil Co. Most files include only lease documents and accompanying blueprints of land lots, many in Houston, TX; some also include correspondence regarding the leases, amongst the lessee, lessor, or attorneys Baker, Botts, Parker & Garwood. Arranged in chronological order by year, with some years missing, as indicated in folder listing.

The first of the files is labeled "Leases used in Wm. M. Rice Litigation," and dated 1903, three years after Wm. M. Rice's death. The file is comprised of leases of warehouse space for the Merchants & Planters Oil Company, as are the remaining files in this series, but it does not specifically indicate how the leases were used in relation to Mr. Rice's estate litigation.
