General
Enclosed in a black leather case marked in gold lettering, “Air Medal,” is a bronze sunburst medal with an eagle in flight and two lightning bolts in relief. The medal is suspended from a ribbon, royal blue with two vertical orange stripes, to which is attached one bronze oak leaf cluster. Accompanying the medal is a bar of the same width and color as the ribbon. On the back of the medal is engraved, “2nd Lt. Thomas E. Bartmess A. C.”
