Houston-born Ralph Anderson Jr. (1923-1990) studied architecture at Rice Institute and earned a bachelor's degree in 1943. He was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1943 and fought in the Battle of the Bulge where he was wounded and awarded a medal for his bravery. After the war, he returned to Rice and continued his studies in architecture. The collection includes correspondence, financial, business and estate records and personal memorabilia of Ray Strange. This collection contains 242 astronomical photographic glass plates collected by Rice University's Dr. Reggie Dufour. The majority were taken at the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory in the Coquimbo Region of northern Chile. A small number of the plates were taken at the Kitt Peak National Observatory near Tucson Arizona.
