Biographical / Historical

The Jester Lounge opened in Houston on 2509 Midlane, which is now roughly 4608 Westheimer in 1961. Owned by Mac Webster, the folk club featured national touring acts, as well as a stable of local musicians, referred to as the the Jester players. They included, Lightnin' Hopkins, Guy Clark, K.T. Oslin, Frank Davis, Ken and Judy, Vivian and Scott Holtzman, and Sarah Wiggins. As the great folk scare of the early 1960s gave way to The Beatles, The Jester Lounge closed its doors in 1966.
