Arthur E. Hall (1901-1978), one time Chairman of Rice University's Shepherd School of Music (1953-1973), is known as a composer of orchestral, choral and chamber ensemble music. His papers include correspondence, original compositions, arrangements, settings, and harmonizations by Hall, as well as audio recordings of his performances and materials from the Charles Ives family.

This collection contains copies of autograph scores, lecture notes, articles, and programs from composer Arthur Gottschalk's academic and professional files. The materials in the collection date from 1964 through 2019.

This collection consists primarily of musical scores composed by two twentieth-century residents of Houston, Texas, Frantz H. Brogniez and John R. Cardone. There are eleven short pieces by Brogniez and eight by Cardone, five of them written to accompany the seventeenth-century masque Comus by John Milton.

The collection consists mainly of programs for which Carl Cunningham wrote commentary. The materials are in good condition, and range in date from 1965 to 2017.

This collection includes autograph music manuscripts, annotated and signed published scores, articles, photos, and notebooks of harpist, composer, and teacher Carlos Salzedo. There are also materials about Alice Chalifoux, Salzedo's student and an influential harpist and teacher in her own right.

Carter Crawford was a Rice University graduate, who worked in oil and gas, and was also deeply interested in music, particularly for viola. These materials include performance scores and notes, family photos and genealogical materials, travel photos, and musicology books / scores. Carter Crawford's Rice diploma is stored with the Rice diplomas collection.
