Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The collection includes the archive from Paul Harcombe and Sandi Elsik’s ecological research in the Big Thicket National Preserve; academic and university affairs regarding Rice University and the Ecology and Environmental Biology Department, as well as student and faculty records; Paul Harcombe’s personal documents, including his correspondence and his personal notebooks; publications, including articles from the journals of Ecology and Ecological Monographs, the Ecological Society of America and the Journal of Vegetative Science, as well as articles from the Tall Timbers Conference and numerous Texas County Soil Surveys; Paul Harcombe’s class and lecture materials; projects and proposals in which Paul Harcombe was involved; and two rolls of film containing aerial views of the Houston area. The seventh series, Aerial Film Rolls, consists of two 10-inch spindles of film showing aerial views of the Houston area. The Big Thicket Archive contains documentation on the project as well as equipment used, including Sandi Elsik’s field clipboard.
