Abstract
Arthur E. Hall (1901-1978), one time Chairman of Rice University's Shepherd School of Music (1953-1973), is known as a composer of orchestral, choral and chamber ensemble music. His papers include correspondence, original compositions, arrangements, settings, and harmonizations by Hall, as well as audio recordings of his performances and materials from the Charles Ives family.

Carter Crawford was a Rice University graduate, who worked in oil and gas, and was also deeply interested in music, particularly for viola. These materials include performance scores and notes, family photos and genealogical materials, travel photos, and musicology books / scores.
