The collection consists of both published and unpublished records of projects undertaken by the Rice Center for Community Design + Research, subsequently the Rice Center. It also includes records of two projects of the University of Louisville which served as precursors to much of the early research completed at the Rice Center.

This collection contains former Athletic Director Bobby May's papers, including correspondence, paperwork, and records, from the years 1987 to 2005. It also contains information from his secretary, Barbara Tolar, and information pertaining to the NCAA, the WAC, Title IX, Endowments, Marketing, the Wingenroth Lawsuit, and Reckling Park.

This collection contains correspondence, research, reports, and publications, administrative materials, course notes and handouts, and personal items of Alan Chapman, the Harry S. Cameron Professor Emeritus of Mechanical Engineering at Rice University.

Rice University News and Media Relations has also been known in the past as News and Publications. This office creates and manages news releases on behalf of the university. The photo and biographical files in this collection were created and manitained by that office for use in such news releases.

The Chandler Davidson Academic papers collection includes course materials, selected student papers, information on minorities at Rice, Athletic Committee materials, and other publications, clippings, letters, and materials relating to Rice received from Research Professor and Tsanoff Chair of Public Affairs Emeritus Davidson.

This collection includes a variety of files that reflect the daily affairs of the Vice President for Resource Development’s office, Rice University Office of Resource Development.

The papers of Graduate Student Master Robert L. Patten include printed material and correspondence concerning the Graduate Student Association and the Graduate House Master's Office. A significant portion of the collection is dedicated to correspondence between Patten and Jordan Konisky, Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Studies from 1996-2006.

The material in this collection was removed from the Rice Institute Business Manager's Records, dating from circa 1844-1940. It is composed primarily of legal materials, receipts, correspondence, bank records, court case records, and diaries.

The collection consists of correspondence which concerns primarily the names of faculty members appointed annually by the President to serve on the Rice University Studies Review Board, which in the 1960s had been called the Rice University Studies Committee. In 1982 the Rice University Studies Review Board was renamed the Rice University Press Committee. Names of members of this committee for 1982-83, 1983-84, and 1985-86 are also included.

Contains memoranda on organization, faculty, student, research, human resource, and general policies of Rice University, divided into folders by each policy section.
