Letters, diaries, scrapbooks, and notebooks belonging to various members of the Elliott family, dating from 1830-1951. The majority of the collection's letters are from the early 20th-century, though some date from the U.S. Civil War (describing life in Mississippi). Other materials describe farm life in Kansas, railroad business, attendance at Rice Institute, and the family life of the Elliotts.

This collection of speeches, correspondences, reports, and photographs documents the work of Albert Thomas, U.S. Representative for Harris County, Texas, from 1936-1966. Albert Thomas was the first Rice Alumnus to serve in Congress. He graduated from Rice Institute in 1920.

Edwin N. Lunn graduated from Rice University in 1920. His diary was written between January 1918 and May 1919, and consists mostly of Lunn's personal feelings and accounts of experiences he had while attending Rice University.

This scrapbook contains many clippings, letters, and notes collected by members of the Bourne family, documenting political events and concerns in Tarboro, North Carolina and other locations in the South.
