Abercrombie Engineering Laboratory collection
The Abercrombie Engineering Laboratory collection provides an overview of the chemical engineering program housed within the building’s walls for over seventy years. Faculty research, class papers, and program accreditation materials forming the bulk of the collection, with event programs, photos, and memorabilia offering more insight into the program’s culture.
CERCL (Center for Engaged Research and Collaborative Learning) records
The collection consists of documentation of CERCL activities, such as submissions to a high school essay contest, event flyers, two oral history interviews, and extensive coverage of Hip-Hop relatved classes and events.
Donald Levin papers
This collection contains papers, articles, theses and "An Unorthodox Diary", which includes his perspective on the controversy over the brief presidency of Bill Masterson at Rice University, 1969, among many other topics. Also included in the collection are files regarding Classics courses taught by Dr. Levin at several universities as well as research notes on Classics subjects.
Engraved printing plates of Rice University scenes
Over the years, Rice University has changed, expanding what began as a cluster of buildings to the developed campus it boasts today. The printing plates in this collection showcase Rice's changes to buildings and landscapes through the years, as well as several important historical figures.
Floyd Seyward Lear papers
The papers of medieval historian Dr. Floyd Seyward Lear include correspondence, departmental and university reports and memoranda, teaching materials, research notes, and a variety of memorabilia, including photographs which document his long tenure at Rice University (1925-1975) as well as the history of the University itself.
Francis Loewenheim papers
This is a collection of the papers of Francis Loewenheim, who taught history at Rice University from 1940s to 1996. The papers contain family correspondence, class notes, drafts and manuscripts for his writings. There are numerous family photographs and also photographs of musicians and composers. This collection consists of 10 linear feet (10 boxes) covering the years 1948 to 1996.
Franz R. Brotzen academic papers
This collection documents the academic career of Dr. Franz R. Brotzen (1915-2010) of Rice University, who served as Stanley C. Moore Professor Emeritus of Materials Science, as Dean of Engineering and as master at Rice's Jones and Brown colleges.
George C. Wheeler Correspondence, Scrapbook, and Biology Lecture and Laboratory Notes
The Wheeler materials include biology lecture and laboratory notes, correspondence, an autobiography and a scrapbook. The bulk of this collection are two bound copies of the notes from the biology classes that George Wheeler took as a student at the Rice Institute through the years 1915 to 1918.
Harry Boyer Weiser chemistry offprints
Contains offprints of articles written by early Rice chemistry professor Harry Boyer Weiser between 1913 and 1950. The collection includes a complete bibliography of articles and books written by Weiser as well as some personal correspondence between Weiser and Rice Institute President E.O Lovett.
John W. Clark, Jr. Bioengineering Department records
The collection consists of materials from Dr. John W. Clark, Jr., professor in both the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Bioengineering at Rice University. The collection also includes records of Dr. Clark’s participation in the work of several university committees, specifically Parking, Graduate Student, Admissions, and the Library. In addition there is material prepared for evaluation of courses to determine ABET accreditation in 2005.
