Rice University Rice Design Alliance Records
The Rice Design Alliance, established in 1973, is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to increasing greater public awareness of architecture, design and the environment. These materials represent RDA lectures, seminars, symposiums, exhibits and tours, which have involved the general public in issues related to the design of public spaces, parks, office buildings, retail centers and residential neighborhoods.

Rice University Shepherd Society Records
The Shepherd Society was founded in 1977 to further the cause of music at Rice University and in Houston through scholarship support and promotion of the programs and recognition of the musical talents of teachers and students of the Shepherd School of Music. The records relate to the governing council of the society, meetings and their agendas and minutes, published materials such as programs, announcements and invitations for special concerts and the Madrigal Dinner.

Rice University Thresher student newspaper editor (Brady Tyson) papers
The collection consists of 1948 and 1949 correspondence with Brady Tyson, editor of the Rice Thresher; his editorials favoring admission of qualified African Americans to Rice Institute; and newspaper reports on the Tyson material and public response to it. The content ends with President Huston’s letter to the editor of the Thresher, pointing out that Rice was chartered for white students only.
