Biographical / Historical

The Rice University Business and Professional Women (RUBPW) was formed in the 1980s by a group of women Rice University alumnae for the purpose of forming friendships, networking, and hearing interesting speakers on topics related to business, the Rice community, or matters of general interest to intelligent people. The group meets monthly September through May, usually beginning with dinner at a noteworthy Houston restaurant. Members emphasize that it is not necessary to be an active career woman to participate. There are members who are not currently working outside the home or who may never have done so. The essential qualifications are an interest in Rice people and availability to attend evening meetings.
