Hanszen College is one of the four original colleges, which were established to house students. The college is named for Harry Clay Hanszen, a wealthy Texas oilman, who served as chairman of Rice's Board of Governors from 1946 to 1950.

Hanszen College is one of the four original colleges, which were established to house students.
