Biographical / Historical

Thomas Babington (T.B) Macaulay (1800-1859) was a 19th century British poet, historian, and Whig politician and one of the two Members of Parliament for Edinburgh. He was both an essayist and reviewer, and he also wrote extensively on British history. Macaulay played an important role in developing a bilingual colonial India, as well as enacting a criminal law system after the Indian Rebellion of 1857. Macaulay was named Baron in 1857, and to date some of his most famous works are: “The History of England from the Accession of James the Second,” Horatius, and Laws of Ancient Rome.
