Permission to publish material from the Burgheim / Browning Family Papers must be obtained from the Woodson Research Center, Fondren Library. Biographical / Historical

Miriam Burgheim was born January 23, 1873, to Henrietta and Jacob Burgheim. Miriam married a man named Browning and had two children, Sidney and Julia.

Ruth Stern was born May 5, 1914 in Houston,Texas, to Julia (Browning) and Armand Stern. She graduated from San Jacinto High School before attending Rice University. Ruth married Sam J. Shapiro in 1936 and the couple had four children. Ruth and Sam attended Congregation Beth Israel in Houston. Ruth died March 14, 2003.
