Permission to publish material from the Nancy Freed Papers must be obtained from the Woodson Research Center, Fondren Library. The Woodson Research Center use policy is that researchers assume sole responsibility for any infringement of privacy, literary rights, copyrights, or other rights arising from their use of the archival materials. In addition to any restrictions placed by donors, certain kinds of archival materials are restricted for the life of the creator plus 50 years. These materials include, but are not limited to, student grades, transcripts, and any job applications or recommendations.

Biographical / Historical

Nancy Winters Freed was born on September 19,1950, in Hackensack, New Jersey. In her early adulthood, she began work as a teacher, and put her husband, Richard Freed, through law school at Duke University. In 1974, at the age of 23, Nancy moved to Houston with her husband, so that he could join the law firm of Vinson & Elkins. In Houston, Nancy taught at the Hebrew Academy and then founded her own tutoring business, with a specialty in Spanish and ESL. Today, Nancy and Richard are proud members of Congregation Brith Shalom. They have 3 chidlren and 8 grandchildren.
