Scope and Contents

B'nai B'rith Youth Organization (BBYO) programs document BBYO activities in which Alan Lipman was involved, with Aleph Zadik Aleph (AZA) and B'nai B'rith Girls (BBG), in Houston from 1970-1984. Of particular interest is the 1970 program for the BBG #643 "13th Annual Beau Dance," which features Alan Lipman as "beau" and handwritten notes from BBG members to Lipman.

Permission to publish material from the Alan Lipman (BBYO) Programs must be obtained from the Woodson Research Center, Fondren Library.

In addition to any restrictions placed by donors, certain kinds of archival materials are restricted for the life of the creator plus 50 years. Alan Lipman is the Associate Executive Director at Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center of Houston.

The B'nai B'rith Youth Organization (BBYO) was founded in 1923. BBYO is the leading pluralistic teen movement aspiring to involve more Jewish teens in more meaningful Jewish experiences. Abstract

This collection is made up of one box containing B'nai B'rith Youth Organization (BBYO) event programs from Aleph Zadik Aleph (AZA) and B'nai B'rith Girls (BBG), as well as event programs from Sigma Alpha Rho. The programs were donated by Alan Lipman and span from 1970-1982.

Arrangement

The materials in this collection have been arranged in four series as follows: Series I: Aleph Zadik Aleph (AZA) Event Programs; Series II: AZA/BBG Event Programs; Series III: B'nai B'rith Girls (BBG) Event Programs; Series IV: Sigma Alpha Rho Event Programs

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Alan Lipman donated the programs in May of 2019.
