Abstract The Elizabeth Baldwin Literary Society (EBLS) was founded in 1914 and named in honor of the second wife of William Marsh Rice. It was an active organization until the mid 1980s. In 1919, the literary society split to form another society, the Pallas Athene Literary Society (PALS). In 1924, an alumnae group for EBLS was formed. The collection consists of print and photographic materials related to the sculpture 45°, 90°, 180° by Michael Heizer located in the School of Engineering quadrangle on the campus of Rice University. The history of the work is covered from the selection and commissioning of the sculptor to the dedication of the completed work and the exhibition featuring Heizer that accompanied this event.
