Scope and Contents note

From the Sub-Series: Sub-subseries 7, covering the years 1936 to1986, includes records ranging from the battle for Panhandle's primary market in the Midwest and in particular the Detroit area after World War II to the takeover attempt in 1986 by Mesa Petroleum. Also included are the records from the files of Edward Buddrus, the former manager of Phillips Petroleum Company's natural gas and natural gasoline department and eventually president of Panhandle. The sub-subseries contains speeches, memos, correspondence, news clips, maps, legal records, and a first-hand account of the fight to stop the Mesa takeover.
