 Item

Scope and Contents

Winner of the 2nd annual Student Academy Awards (held in 1975) in the Experimental category.

Mostly shot in Houston, the film deals with questions about the nature of architecture in the petroleum age, as well as with issues of sustainability and infrastructural endurance. The film ends on a humorous note, with the presentation of a speculative architectural model.

Director Scott Thomas was an architectural student at Rice who got involved with the Media Center while James Blue was here and insisted that the Media Center should not create filmmakers, but should teach students and faculty how to use film in their disciplines.
