Scope and Contents
Six original handwritten pages by J.B. Harris in which he recounts the capture of his battalion of confederate cavalry outside of New Iberia, Louisiana in 1863. The format switches from verse to letter with many colloquialisms and an overall assumption that the reader is familiar with the subject and persons involved.
Also includes a modern handwritten transcription of Harris’ notes for improved legibility.
