Lecturer Emeritus on Electrical and Computer Engineering. Hardy Bourland came to Rice in 1961 from General Dynamics, where he was a senior aero systems engineer. A registered professional engineer, Bourland has served the university in several capacities--as executive director of the Rice Engineering Design and Development Institute, as assistant to the dean for student development and as associate director of the Biomedical Engineering Laboratory. (B.S., 1955 Texas Technological College; S.M.E.E., 1957, Massachusetts Institute of Technology).)
