Wilson, Alyson Gabbard (class of 1989) interview wrc04209
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of records having to do with the study of women at Rice. The earliest item is a 1975 speech by sociology Professor Chandler Davidson. The beginnings of Women’s Studies as an academic discipline at Rice are recorded in documents dating from 1985 through 1990. Materials from the 1996 Rice Women’s Conference are included. One aspect of this event was an oral history project which yielded 28 audio cassette-recorded interviews that are a part of the collection. Materials from a similar conference that took place in 1999 are also included, as is information for planning a subsequent women’s conference.
