The Beta Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa at Rice was established in 1929. This record group contains the history of the Beta Chapter from its inception up until 2008, as documented by general correspondence, national correspondence, letters of acceptance, constitution and by-laws, minutes, register of members, journals, financial records, and printed materials. Included in the materials is correspondence and documents relating to the founding of the Beta Chapter at Rice University.
