Card G. Elliott, Jr. Family collection

Abstract Letters, diaries, scrapbooks, and notebooks belonging to various members of the Elliott family, dating from 1830-1951. The majority of the collection's letters are from the early 20th-century, though some date from the U.S. Civil War (describing life in Mississippi). Other materials describe farm life in Kansas, railroad business, attendance at Rice Institute, and the family life of the Elliotts.

Overview The collection consists of materials accumulated by a major alumni supporter of Rice athletics over sixty years. Included is a program from the Texas Relays in 1926 which shows the discus throwing record in the Southwest Conference held by the creator of the collection.
