Audio cassette tapes and subject index of oral histories given by Rice students and alumni regarding student life, created within a university course as a contribution to the charter centennial celebration in 1991. It also includes a copy of the published work, The History of Student Life at Rice University: A Series of Papers, which resulted from these interviews.
Rice Institute Formal Opening Invitations and Responses
In response to the Rice Institute's invitation to its formal opening in 1912, a number of institutions worldwide responded favorably, delegating representatives and sending good wishes and encouragement to the new institution. An assortment of prints, photographs, negatives, and negative slides concerning the Rice University campus, student life, sports, professors, the President's House [O’Connor House], the Baker Institute, commencements, and other university events. Most of these photographs were taken by Campus Photographers Thomas LaVergne, Philip Channing, and Jeff Fitlow.
